TRANSITIONAL KINDERGARTEN
All aspects of the Transitional Kindergarten Program have been designed to meet the needs of children who would benefit from another year to develop emotionally, socially, physically and/or academically before entering Kindergarten. The GRCS TK program was developed in collaboration with the education professionals in the Glen Rock School District. It is aligned with the curriculum used in the district's Kindergarten classes and includes math, science, social studies, handwriting and language arts.
Children must be 5 years of age on or before December 31, 2018.
Several field trips are planned each year to reinforce academics. The certificated teaching staff is assisted by an experienced teacher's aide. Children also have opportunities for free play with manipulatives, centers and time outdoors. As appropriate for these students, emphasis will be placed on fine and gross motor skill development.
To provide students with the best preparation possible for the stamina needed for full-day kindergarten, the program runs daily from 8:30 am - 3:00 pm. following the Glen Rock Public School's calendar. This is a limited-enrollment program.
